We take a look at the new Silent Hill game, Shattered Memories for the Wii. Does this game live up to the original or is it a badly done remake?

Meh.. I heard that all you do is run away from the monsters, no killings at all..

It’s only good on the psp but it dosen’t have the guns and stuff from the original

@Suchaku
Because the movie (and Homecoming) seem to completely miss the point of what Silent Hill is all about. It just throws Pyramid Head at the screen (who is irrelevant when not talking about Silent Hill 2) and shout “there you go, Silent Hill!”.
No, Silent Hill is about the characters, and how the come into the overarching plot, monsters simply being there to screw with them.
Shattered Memories is a great game, and it seems closer to the source material, but it’s still missing a few things

As usual, a great Silent Hill game. I hear there’s alot of fan boys out there crying about the movie, as well as Homecoming, and I don’t see why. I did find this game creepier than Homecoming, but the very first game made about Silent Hill isn’t scary at all. I mean, zombie gnomes at Midwich school. Woah I was scared. At any rate just finished the game and it turned out to be alot more than I expected. I end up with a game about psychology. I’m amazed by this game and it calls for replays. Many!

@ares5566 this is bullshit. It didnt ruin anything, it is a RE-IMAGINATION not a REMAKE. Yamaoka is awesome as always, the plot is nice, the graphics are great for a Wii, the psychological background is present and well written, the cellphone + interaction with the wiimote is good, and the four endings are entertaining and sad as always. It feels great like any other Silent Hill. No metaphorical background? Lol, you didnt even played it did you?

first off no the point was that he was only to be seen by james they ruined that with homecomming
and thats not wat i have a problem with my problem is that he served no purpose in the movie in homecomming it was arguable that he was still the punisher of sins and all that jazz

According to the canon plot of silent hill, or whatever we know about it, the possibility of Pyramid head showing himself in other peoples psyches is quite possible.
May 12th, 2010 on 11:40 pm
But it was based on Silent hill.
Hence the town named silent hill.
Its kinda sad that you cant look past the movie not being connected to the game.
May 13th, 2010 on 12:17 am
exactly so it shouldnt have been called silent hill it shouldve just been another horror movie based on a corrupt town
May 13th, 2010 on 1:10 am
You see the game wasn’t meant to be connected perfectly.
75% of the people who saw Silent Hill never played the games.
What did you want a movie that made no sense?
Think Logically
The move was UNDOUBTEDLY the best movie based on a video game ever.
But its clear you ignored the awesomeness of the movie and focused on *WTF Pyramid head!? James isnt here”
The symbolism of silent hill wasnt in the movie nor was it meant to be.
May 13th, 2010 on 1:32 am
he shouldnt have been there james is the only person who can see pyramid head also the movie had nothing metaphorical about it it just took the 1st game and took out the metaphors turning everything to something litteral
May 13th, 2010 on 1:55 am
Exactly what story did it ruin? Silent hill movie had its own story.
I swear annoying pissy fanboys like you are annoying…..”OMG WHAT WAS PYRAMID HEAD DOING THERE!”
-_-
May 13th, 2010 on 2:39 am
the movie didnt explain anything at all it ruined a story that already existed with stupuid changes
May 13th, 2010 on 2:45 am
It was fucking amazing!
And you know what the point of the movie was?
It was that you could understand the story WITHOUT the games.
May 13th, 2010 on 3:30 am
it was atrocious it didnt have the story that a silent hill game is known for and had no metaphorical background at all ontop of that it ruined a story that was already written just to reach a larger audience for money most people didnt even kno it was based on a game
May 13th, 2010 on 4:18 am
The movie fucking rocked! The best movie based on a video game ever.
May 13th, 2010 on 5:12 am
0:13 I HATE THAT THING
May 13th, 2010 on 5:52 am
it had nothing the movie suked!
May 13th, 2010 on 5:56 am
Dude the movie was fucking amazing
And it didnt follow the lore of te games because it wasn’t meant to! Pyramid head was put there for the fans, same with the Nurses
